Information on accessibility measures at the Zero Project Conference 2026

A brief overview of #ZeroCon26 accessibility

INFORMATION

Volunteers wear bright green shirts with the word "Volunteer" written in large letters. They are available at the reception desk, in the plenary rooms and throughout the venue.

Volunteers

Members of the Zero Project Team and volunteers are available to offer additional support to individual participants.

First-time attendee support desk

A dedicated desk for first-time attendees will be available at the conference to support orientation and navigation.

Large print

Large print versions of the conference agenda and venue maps will be available at the registration desk.

Infobot on WhatsApp

Coming soon: the Zero Project Infobot will be available on WhatsApp to assist with all questions about #ZeroCon26.

Accessibility features are marked in the interactive version of the agenda on the #ZeroCon26 conference platform.
The conference agenda will also soon be available as accessible MS Word file. Please send a request to zerocon@zeroproject.org.

Navigation

Tactile flooring

Tactile flooring is placed throughout the conference building ("M-Building") to aid navigation to key areas.

Audio description of the venue

An audio guide of the venue will be published before the conference. It will cover the venue and each of the plenary rooms.

Sessions

English captions

All sessions will have live captioning in English.

International Sign

International Sign interpretation will be available in most sessions. ÖGS (Austrian sign language) will be available for those sessions that are specific to Austria.

Graphic facilitation

Graphic facilitation will be available in several sessions to provide visual summaries of presentations.

Accessible livestream

There will be an accessible livestream of the Opening and Award Ceremonies, as well as the Fireside Chats, with live captioning in English and International Sign interpretation.

Presentations for download

Accessible PowerPoint files will be uploaded to the conference platform for all relevant sessions shortly before the conference begins.

Portable induction loops will be available from the registration desk. You will need to provide an ID to receive one of the headsets.

Accessible format

Instructions on creating an accessible presentations are sent to all presenters. The Zero Project Team reviews all presentations.

Audio description

Audio description will be available for select videos submitted to the Zero Project Team ahead of the Conference.

English captions

Presenters are requested to include captioning in English for all videos shown during presentations.

Networking

Wheelchair accessibility in the networking area

There is a dedicated networking area for 1-to-1 meetings booked through the #ZeroCon26 conference platform: the "Press Room" on the Ground Floor (M-Building).

Since it can get very busy at times, #ZeroCon26 Volunteers will be on hand to help manage crowds and ensure all participants can access their meetings.

Dedicated tables will be available for participants who use a wheelchair.

Sign interpretation on demand

Conference participants can book professional interpretation services from Overseas Interpreting via their exhibition booth.

Volunteers will be briefed on community-recommended apps to facilitate communication access.

Quiet and sensory spaces

Ground Floor, M-Building

In proximity to the plenary rooms:

  • Quiet Room with dimmed light, comfortable chairs, and blankets;

  • Sensory Room to support relexation.
