International Cerebral Palsy Society
About
ICPS is an international organisation created by and for people with cerebral palsy, and its mission is centred around three key aims: representation, networking and communication.
First, representation is at the heart of ICPS. It is essential that the voice of people with cerebral palsy is included whenever policies, medical research or technological innovations that may affect their lives are being developed. ICPS ensures this voice is heard at the global level and strives to strengthen it at the regional level as well, beginning with its European members organised under CP-ECA.
Second, networking enables the exchange of invaluable knowledge and experience. While many countries have made significant progress in social inclusion and services for people with CP and their families, levels of understanding and support still vary widely. The global network of ICPS members creates a unique space where expertise can be shared, challenges discussed and solutions developed together.
Finally, communication remains crucial. Although cerebral palsy is the most common motor disability in childhood, it is still widely misunderstood. Through its website, annual meetings and other outreach activities, ICPS supports efforts to raise awareness of CP and highlight not only the challenges, but also the strengths, needs and capabilities of people living with CP.
