Kyaro Assistive Tech

Kyaro Assistive Tech is a social enterprise that increases access to appropriate assistive tech through manufacturing, service provision and advocacy.

Kyaro has a catalog of over 30 products that have been collaboratively designed with the intended users and therapists to suit their specific needs and those of the local terrain and enviroment in which the devices are used. The devices includes wheelchairs, standing frames, gait trainers, and other rehabilitation equipment.

Kyaro also adheres to and advocates for the appropriate service provision process that is reccommended by the WHO. This involves ensuring appropriate assessment, fitting, user training, and follow up in order to ensure the device serves the specific need s of the user over a long period of time.

Kyaro also collaborates with other stakeholders in raising awareness about appropriate assistive devices and advocating for reforms or establish policies that will guide AT provision in the country. We have also been part of stakeholders that took part in diffferent consultations including development of the National AT stratergy and AT priority list.

We have manufactured and distribute over 2000 devices to date, train over 40 proffessionals in wheelchair provision, and convened over 100 stakeholders to raise awareness on appropriate assistive devices.

We are currently scalling our manufacturing capacity and quality in order to reach a larger market of those in need of assistive devices and operate sustainably.
