Porque, the Organization of Persons with Psychosocial Disabilities

Porque is a user-led organisation of persons with psychosocial disabilities established in 201６ in Tokyo, Japan. Our mission is to “connect, communicate, and change” by creating spaces where people with psychosocial disabilities can share experiences, influence policies, and co-create more inclusive communities. We organise peer support and dialogue groups, deliver awareness-raising lectures and media engagement, conduct peer-led and participatory research, and advocate for the implementation of the CRPD in Japan. In disaster risk reduction, we collaborate with universities, local governments, and other DPOs to develop checklists, training modules, and multimedia resources that make preparedness, evacuation, and recovery plans inclusive for people with psychosocial and developmental disabilities.
